Equifest

Well, today turned out dry and slightly cold. Amazing! Imagine a cold dry winter day in California!
Went to Equifest and spent about 4hours watching a great horse show at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. There were two accidents, not serious but curiously they were all caused by saddles slipping and the riders ended up on the ground. One shire horse became very nervous and his lady who was riding side saddle dismounted but as she did the saddle slipped and she ended fallig on the ground. He ran off an was eventually caught and she was unhurt. There was much cheering for the mounted cavalry and their horses were rock solid even with gun shooting from their riders.
We went around the barns afterwards and I fell in love with a rather large horse, as you can see in the photo. We ran into Jann and his team got 'bumped' from the Rose Parade because two riders withdrew and therefore his group did not have enough to perform. He encouraged me once again to think about entering Quincey in one of these paradesin Medieval garb. I will think about it.
The afternoon ended with us doing chores at the ranch and I do admit I wispered in Quincey's ear about how splendid he would have looked all dressed up. He just tried to take off my hat in answer. We will have more 'talks' anout this in 2010 I think.
